Dave’s background is slightly unusual for an artist having worked for many years in engineering specialising in research, design and development of advanced radio and video communication systems.  However, a lot of Dave’s family were artists most notably Harold Holdcroft who is widely regarded as one of the great ceramic designers of the 20^th century. Dave was influenced from an early age by such artists.

In Dave’s case his artistic side eventually ‘won out’ and nowadays Dave uses his innovative design skills in his fused glass designs rather than in the world of ‘hi-tech’ electronics. Interestingly, and perhaps uniquely, some of Dave’s glass designs show his engineering influence mixed with his artistic ideas.  This is further enhanced by his use of colour and textures and by utilising light to generate pieces that are only possible by using glass.

Dave has trained in fused glass in Bath and Falmouth. Immediately after his training Dave accepted an invitation to have his work shown at an exhibition at The Poly in Falmouth.
